The FAQ for a newcomer:

I am new to DDO and I could use some help from you. How do I get hold of you?

There are a number of ways to contact the guild:

1) If you are logged in to the game, you can use your Social Panel. Go to the Who tab and by clicking on top of the „Guild“ column have all the characters who are online sorted according to their Guild name in alphabetical order. If you find any characters from The New Blood, you can send them a tell (in the command line of your chat window, type "/tell <playername> <textofyourmessage>"). Chances are that the given character is an officer. If not and they can't help you themselves, they will contact an officer who will get back to you as soon as possible.
2) Send an e-mail in game. If you know how to use the in-game mail system, you can send an e-mail to a member (prefferably an officer´) of the guild and they (or someone else) will get back to you. The best person to contact at the moment is Micron.
3) If you have an account on the Codemasters Forum, check out the DDO Forum. You can send a private message to Krya and we will get back to you. If you don't have an account and would like to have one, follow the instructions at http://community.codemasters.com/forum/register.php?
4) Visit the The New Blood forum, say hi and feel free to post any questions about the game or the guild.
5) We run a server-wide user channel on Devourer with the aim to help new players on the server. If you're interested, you will find more information about the channel and instructions on how to use it here.

What kind of help can I get from you?

First of all, you can ask questions. The game and its mechanics are a bit complex and there's a lot to learn so if there's anything you'd like to ask about, just use any of the above described ways to contact us. You might have questions about your character, about where to find places or people in Stormreach, where to buy certain equipment etc. Most of the time we'll probably know the answer straight away and if we don't, we'll find out for you. We can't help you with technical issues concerning your account or subscription - if you have problems of this kind, it's best to use the official Codemasters forum (see the link above).
It can happen that you'd like to play but you're having difficulties finding someone to play with. If someone from the guild is available, chances are that they'll join you and run some quests with you or help you find a group. Please note that sometimes the guild members might be occupied so this is not always possible.
What we don't do and never will is giving away free equipment or money - see the rules below.

I'm a new player and I'd like to join your guild. Is it possible and what can I expect?

Indeed, you can become a member of The New Blood. Please note that we are a small guild and we have a rather high fluctuation due to our members often being people who are trying the game and deciding whether to stay or not. We've had periods when there would be fifteen members online in the evening but we've also had very quiet periods when basically just the guild officers would be about. If you're looking for a stable guild with a lot of people, it'll probably be better to try one of the established guilds on Devourer - and we can try to help you with that. However, maybe the guild you're interested in joining isn't recruiting new members at the moment or maybe they're not looking for completely new players (at the moment or in general). In that case, The New Blood might be a good chance for you to get some experience and when you get more familiar with the game, maybe you'll have more luck trying to join the guild you'd like. Another benefit of being a member is the chance to ask questions in guild chat even if you're not grouped with other guild members.
Depending on how many members we have at a given point, chances are that there will be organized guild questing or guild events. We don't have a very stable member base though so we can't make any promises. While we're glad to welcome any new people who want to join us, it is not our primary goal to grow in numbers. If any of our members gets an offer from another guild in which they think will be happy, we'll be happy as well. :)

Are there any rules to follow?

Apart from the obvious (like maintaing a certain level of politeness, watching your language in guild chat etc.), there are two rules whose aim to is emphasize and preserve the enjoyment of the game. If you have any questions regarding these two rules, please ask the officers.

1) No equipment or money giveaways, which mostly means that guild officers won't give away outstanding equipment to new players. There is a good reason for this. The officers are people who have been playing the game for some time and have gathered a fair amount of wealth (be it money or items). It wouldn't be a problem for them to pass some of it on to guildies so they're geared up with the best equipment available for their level.
However, that would completely ruin the whole fun of gradually finding better gear and expanding your wealth as you progress in levels and collect rewards for quests. If you have the best you can use at a given level, you might as well skip chests because you will never get anything better than what you already have.
This rule won't be enforced despotically but breaking of it might be frowned upon. It should also be mentioned that the rule doesn't apply to the sharing of supplies like scrolls, wands or potions on difficult quests and raids.

2) No exploits. After nearly three years, there are still a number of issues and bugs in the game, some of which can, sadly, be exploited. While any exploits are strongly discouraged in general, exploitation of loot bugs will not be tolerated at all. It's dumb, greedy and no fun - among other things.

The FAQ for everyone else:

I've been around for a while, I like this idea about helping new players and I wouldn't mind helping out myself if I have the chance. What can I do?

If you know someone who could use any of the above described help or perhaps come across a new player in need of help while levelling your newest lowbie, the best thing you can do is to contact any member of the New Blood or help the newbie contact us. We'll get in touch with them and see what we can do. Thanks!
You can also join the Help channel and offer your assistance on there. Spreading the word and letting newbies know about the channel is highly appreciated. I've been around for a while and I'd like to help you out actively. Can I join the guild and what are the conditions?

If you'd like to join us, you'll be welcome. It's possible that you'll be asked to run a few quests with us just to get to know each other but as long as you're friendly and willing to help, you're in. Other than that, there are almost no conditions and requirements at all. You can join on one or more characters of yours of any level, it's completely up to you. You should be ready to answer questions or offer other help you can provide. If you're on a high level character, you can help by answering potential questions in guild chat or Tells that people might send you and you also help just by being online so that people can see you on the Who list in case anyone wants to contact you (so please make sure to have your Anonymous box unchecked :). If you feel like it, you can run some Harbour or other low level quests as that's where you're most likely to come across new players), but noone will force you to do it. Being a New Blood member doesn't necessarily have to interfere with your normal playing.
If you're joining the guild, you should realize what you're doing and why but in general everyone is (of course) free to leave the guild at any time. Even temporary membership is okay - maybe you've just started a new character and you'd like to join for a limited time while you're at low levels and switch back to your "main" guild later as soon as your character grows up - why not. It's still help and every help is welcome.
