The New Blood

Hi guys,

does anybody have any experience with moving a phpBB forum to a different location? I've been vaguely thinking of re-locating this forum to somewhere else but I'm not sure how much of a hassle that would be. I don't expect simply copying to files would do the trick. I'm considering two options:

1) moving to a different directory within the same hosting account
2) moving to a different hosting account (probably with the same provider though)

Anybody have a clue? I think Siw mentioned once he admin'd a phpBB forum before?

I'll double check with the other admins on my other site, I didn't do the transfer but some people there did. I'll let you know as soon as I find out.

it shouldn't be much of a hassle. All you gotta do is move the database and reconfigure the phpbb configuration files.

However I never worked with phpbb.
Just make a backup, and play around with it, I guess...

The only issues you can get is about directory arborscence, so you will most likely have ZERO issues if moving to a different host from the same provider.

Hope I made myself clear, but that should be piece of cake.

i'm afraid i can't say more than Sque aldready did. I haven't moved one before, but moving the database and the files followed by a reconfiguration of the directories should be enough i think.
